Today, we share the inspiring story of Laurin - a courageous boy whose journey shows the power of  hope.

Laurin was born in 2015 and had a happy early life with loving parents. In 2018, at the age of three, he faced a life-altering challenge: he contracted a meningococcal infection, which led to septicemia and the subsequent amputation of both feet and a significant part of both hands.

After 21 weeks of intensive surgery and therapy, Laurin’s condition stabilized, marking the beginning of a new way of life. He bravely took his first steps with his first prostheses - a moment of triumph and hope.

Day by day, his parents learned to navigate this new reality, wholeheartedly supporting Laurin and encouraging his interactions with the world around him. Their visit to the "Plus Sport Day" in Magglingen - an annual event promoting inclusion through sport, and organized by PluSport Switzerland - proved transformative. It was there that Laurin first encountered Macu4 prosthetic modules.

The event energized the whole family. They quickly recognized the vital role that sport could play in fostering Laurin's development and improving his quality of life. Following a successful trial period with the Macu4 device, the family applied to the RedLine Foundation for financial assistance. Their application was approved, enabling Laurin to continue exploring the world with greater independence.

Today, thanks to his new device, Laurin enjoys playing table tennis and floorball. His ability to hold a racket not only improves his coordination and posture, but also strengthens his muscles and enables him to engage in a wider range of social activities.

The RedLine Foundation is proud to support Laurin and hopes that his new prosthetic module will continue to empower him to embrace life with joy and confidence.
